Most patterns made in pattern software do. A PDF that is only a picture or a scan opens as pages you can still stitch from and mark with a highlighter, a line tool and an eraser.

Yes. Ruta reads the thread key and gives every symbol its thread colour. You can switch the chart between colour and black and white whenever you like.

Write to us at support@rutastitch.com. You can also turn on Send PDFs to the Ruta team in the app’s settings, under Sharing, so we can see the patterns that did not open well. We read every report and keep teaching Ruta new kinds of charts.

Yes. The patterns you import are yours, and Ruta does not share them with other people. A PDF reaches the Ruta team only if you turn on Send PDFs to the Ruta team, and you can turn it off any time. See the Privacy Policy for the details.

Yes. Import the PDF you marked in Pattern Keeper, and the stitches you have finished are marked in Ruta too. Then carry on from where you stopped.

Full, half, quarter, three-quarter and petite stitches, backstitch, French knots, beads and blended threads, all in one chart.

Yes. Backstitch is drawn as lines in its own thread colour, and you mark each line as you finish it, just like your crosses.

Tap or swipe across the chart, and undo if you slip. Choose how finished stitches look: shaded, filled or black and white, with a highlight colour of your own.

Highlight the thread in your needle and fade the rest, then use Find next to jump to its next spot. Parking marks where a parked thread is waiting, and a working area with rulers and centre lines keeps a big chart calm.

Yes. Once you set your fabric, the thread list shows skeins and length for every colour, with the spare you choose. Treat the numbers as a guide, since every stitcher uses thread a little differently.

Yes. Progress numbers for each thread and the whole chart, a calendar of your stitching days, daily goals, notes and progress photos for every project.

Yes. The editor is part of Ruta: change colours, fix stitches, and move or turn parts of the chart. Then go straight back to stitching.

No. Without one, your projects stay on your device. Sign in with Apple, Google or email when you want your charts on more than one device.

While you are signed in, your charts and progress stay up to date between your phone and iPad on their own. You do not export, email or copy anything.

Yes. With Ruta Pro you can stitch without internet: your charts and progress are on your device, and your changes sync when you are back online. On a monthly or yearly plan, connect at least once every two weeks so Ruta can check your subscription. With lifetime access there is nothing to check.

Yes. The projects already on your device come with you into your account when you sign in.

In the app, or on the account deletion page. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel that in your Apple Account settings or in Google Play.

The five designer charts that come with the app are free in full. You can also import up to three of your own patterns to see how Ruta reads them.

Stitching, editing and syncing all your own patterns. Choose $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year, each with a 14-day free trial, or pay $49.99 once for lifetime access. Prices in your country are shown in the app before you buy.

On iPhone or iPad, in your Apple Account settings under Subscriptions. On Android, in Google Play under Payments and subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends and you will not be charged for the next one.

They are not deleted. They are locked until Ruta Pro is active again.
