Ruta Stitch opens the cross-stitch PDFs you already own, finds the chart grid, and lets you check it before you begin. Then you can mark off finished stitches without losing your place. Built from the ground up for Windows, Android, and iOS.

Three things that go wrong with a PDF chart on a screen
Every designer creates charts differently, but existing apps only support certain formats - which you usually find out only after buying a pattern.
The grid lands crooked
Your marks drift a square sideways halfway down the chart, and you don't notice until the motif is off.
Multi-page charts break your flow
Large designs span multiple pages with overlapping rows, forcing you to jump back and forth across page breaks just to finish a single row.
Blurry, unreadable symbols
Similar symbols like ● and ◐ can blur together on low-resolution pages, making them especially hard to distinguish near page borders.

Ruta Stitch works directly with standard PDF charts and is tested against files from one shop after another, so the squares land where the designer put them.
01Patterns you already own
Open the PDFs you bought from Etsy, independent shops, or anywhere else. Nothing to convert and no separate library to buy from. They stay on your device, so you can stitch with no signal.

Ruta Stitch finds the grid and shows it to you first. If it sits wrong on an unusual chart, you nudge it into place and carry on.

I'm a solo developer - and a stitcher - building this because I needed it myself. The apps I tried kept failing on charts from certain designers.
So far, Ruta Stitch has been tested against charts from around a dozen popular shops. No two designers format their patterns in exactly the same way, so it's being built to handle those quirks.
When I say it's unreleased, I mean it: there's no release date yet, no pre-orders, and nothing to pay. You'll be invited to test as soon as a build is ready.
